The person, who was killed in Kotka on Sunday was a middle-aged woman and had relation with the suspect of the murder, police said on Monday.
Police interrogated the man, who was arrested on Sunday as a suspect of the murder and took him to custody.
Police, however, did not divulge details about the incident and the identities of the victim and the suspect.
The murder took place in a private residence at Karhuvuori area in Kotka, a municipality in Southeastern Finland om May 10.
Police will disclose more information about the incident on Wednesday.
