NCP, Finns, Christian Democrats, Swedish People’s Party to Begin Government Formation Talks; Orpo: Difficulties Ahead

The National Coalition Party (NCP), the Finns Party (Finns), the Christian Democrats (CD) and the Swedish People’s Party (SPP) will participate in the government formation talks.
Petteri Orpo, the chairman of the NCP, on Thursday, announced the results of the preliminary government formation talks that concluded in the Arkadia Hall in the afternoon.

Orpo said that in the preliminary discussions, the parties have sought a common view on how to solve the challenges facing Finland. With the consensus reached in the discussions, Orpo considered finding solutions in government formation talks possible.
In the government formation talks, discussions will be held to determine the Government Program, the number of ministers, their division of responsibilities and the allocation of portfolios.
Orpo said that the hardest part in the negotiations is likely to find an agreement on the spending cuts of €6 billion.
Government formation talks will start at the House of the Estates on May 2.
