
A grenade went missing after it had been detected on Wednesday afternoon in a field near the ice hall in Riihimäki, a municipality in the southern Finland, about 69 kilometres away from Helsinki, said police.
Police suspected that an outsider took possession of the grenade and left the spot before the area was sealed off.
Police received an alarm about a possible explosive at the area at about 14:15 p.m.
According to a police assessment, a wartime grenade has been found in the field and grenade may be dangerous and must not be touched.
Police urge person who has taken the grenade or has information about it to call the emergency telephone number 112 immediately.
