Finland condoles at India plane crash victims

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen on Thursday expressed profound shock at the victims of the plane crash in India.

“I wish to express my most sincere condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the families and loved ones of the victims, and to everyone affected by the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171. My thoughts are with you,” Orpo wrote in a post on his social media platform X.

Valtonen in a post on her X also expressed condolences to her counterparts in India and United Kingdom over the incident.

“Devastated to hear about the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171. I wish to express my most sincere condolences to my Dear Colleagues Dr. S. Jaishankar and David Lammy, to the victims and everyone affected by this devastating event,” the Foreign Minister wrote.

A London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with 242 people on board crashed at the premises of a medical college immediately after take-off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, about 17 km south of Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat.

All the people onboard, excepting one passenger were reportedly killed in the accident.
