The North Savo District Court on Monday convicted a man of sexually harassing a female lawmaker of the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP), the main component of the four-party alliance government, local media reported.
The court fined the 43-year-old man 240 euros as the allegation of harassing Karoliina Partanen MP brought against him were proved beyond doubt, reported national broadcaster Yle.
The court also ordered the convict to pay 900 euros to the lawmaker as compensation and 2100 euros to cover her legal costs.
According to the verdict, the man sent a sexually themed video and message to the MP in April 2023, which shocked her.
Partanen said that she did not know the man before sending the messages.
