A young man was killed in a violence during a graduation celebration party at Pieksämäki, a municipality in South Savo region late Saturday night, police and local media said on Sunday.
The incident took place at about 10:20 p.m. at Hiekanpää beach, a popular party place for the young people in the area when a group of youths gathered there.
At certain stage a young man came under attack and sustained critical wounds. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Responding to an alarm, police and emergency service people rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
Police also conducted extensive search at the locality and arrested the suspect from a nearby area.
Police, however, did not divulge details about the incident and the identities of the victim and the suspect at the preliminary stage of the investigation but said that both the victim and the suspect were adults.
Police are investigating into the incident as murder.
