A man died in the detention cell at Kuopio main police station on Saturday morning, police said in a press release.
The dead was 48 years old.
The authority found him in unconscious condition during the inspection round at about 8:00 a.m. and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The authority called emergency service immediately and the medial team declared the man dead.
Earlier at mid night police arrested the man and kept him in the detention cell.
The police, however, did not divulge details about the reason behind the death and the identity of the deceased.
The Häme Police are investigating into the death to ensure transparency of the police operation in this regard.
Earlier in February 28, this year, another man died in the detention cell at Lahti main police station.
Several custodial deaths also took place in Finland in 2024.
