Man held for robbery, abusing schoolboy in Järvenpää

Police arrested one person on Wednesday on charges of snatching money from a schoolboy, taking valuables from his house and abusing him in various ways on Tuesday in Järvenpää, a municipality in Uusimaa region, said police in a press release.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when the 13-year-old boy was returning home from school.

At certain stage an unknown young man stooped the boy on his way and snatched money from him.

After taking money, the alleged mugger asked the boy to steal alcoholic products for him from the nearby shop, but the boy did not pay heed to his demand.

Later the alleged snatcher compelled the boy to tell his home address and went there along with him. The alleged mugger took valuables and goods from the house and forced the boy to carry the stolen goods together with him to a nearby footbridge.

Later the alleged mugger left the scene by a car and fled to the direction of Helsinki.

The boy sought help from the neighbouring people.

Responding to an alarm police conducted extensive search and identified the criminal and later arrested him on Wednesday and recovered most of the goods, said police.

The police are investigating into the case as aggravated robbery, aggravated breach of domestic peace and intimidation.
