Industrial Union starts 4-day strike across Finland

The Industrial Union (Teollisuusliitto) on Monday started a four-day strike at different heavy industries across the country demanding a collective agreement for the Technology Industries, said Trade Union Pro.

The previous collective agreement has been expired on November 30.

The union decided to go for the pre-scheduled strike as no effective result came from the meeting with the mediator held on Sunday.

The site-specific work stoppages were observed on Monday at 37 industries including Harvia, Uponor, Hartwall, Outokummun Metalli, Vaisala and BRP Finland Oy.

The strike will be observed on Tuesday at 31 industries including ABB, Kone, Konecranes and Nokia, on Wednesday at 32 industries including Fiskars, Metso, Patria, Ponsse and Valmet and on Thursday at more than 50 industries including Abloy, Componenta, Danfoss, Outokumpu, Ruukki, Sandvik and Valtra.

The collective agreement negotiated by Pro and the employers of the Finnish Technology Industries covers 22,000 employees.

Earlier, the union observed a 48-hour strike from December 3.
