
The Parliament on Tuesday approved the amendments to the Alcohol Act with the provisions for allowing online sales and home delivery of alcoholic beverages.
The law was approved by 98 votes to 77, which also allowed the state-owned alcohol company Alko to keep the shops open on Sunday, said the Parliament in a press release.
According to the new law, alcoholic beverages now can be ordered for home delivery from Alko, grocery stores and restaurants. The percentage limits of the alcoholic beverage for the online sale will remain unchanged.
People in Finland will be able to order home delivery of alcoholic beverages with alcohol content of up to 80 percent from online stores in European Union and European Economic Area countries.
The home delivery of the alcoholic beverages will be allowed in between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. and the recipients need to prove their age.
As per the new law, Alkos outlets will be allowed remain open every day from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
