Majority of Finnish people believed that the performance of the present four-party alliance government led by conservative Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP) to handle the country affairs is poor, according to a survey commissioned by the Foundation for Municipal Development (Kaks).
The survey results released on Thursday showed that 58 percent people considered that the ability of the Prime Minister Petteri Orpo-led government reduced during its regime since the government was formed with Kokoomus, Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party), Suomenruotsalainenkansanpuolue (Swedish People’s Party of Finland-RKP) and Suomen Kristillisdemokraati (Christian Democratic Party-CD) three years ago.
Only about 23% people think that government's ability to manage the country's affairs is very good or fairly good while 17% believe that the performance was neither good nor bad.
The survey results also showed that the trust in the ability of the present government is significantly lower compared to the previous Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) led alliance government headed by Sanna Marin.
The supporters of the ruling parties, however, showed positive views about the ability of the government while the supporters of the opposition parties expressed negative views.
About 61% supporters of the ruling parties assessed the government's ability positively while 81% supporters of the opposition parties believed that the government's ability to manage the country's affairs is very or fairly poor.
The survey was conducted by research organisation Verian from March 28 to April 1, 2026 through interviewing 1020 people.
The margin error is under ± 3 percentage points.
