An elderly man was killed when another man attacked him with sharp weapon at Malminkartano area in Helsinki late Wednesday night, police said on Thursday morning.
The incident took place at about 11:00 p.m. and the victim born in the 1940s sustained severe wounds in the knife attack and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Responding to an alarm police and rescue service people rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the victim.
Police arrested a man born in the 1990s as a suspect of the murder after the incident.
They, however, did not divulge details about the incident and the identities of the victim and the suspect at the initial stage of the investigation.
Police are investigating into the case as murder.
