Tunisian Ambassador to Finland Nabiha Hajjaji on Saturday focused on the current political, economic and social stability of her country and pointed out Tunisia´s efforts to promote the attractivity of the country in various sectors including investment and tourism.
“It’s time for Finland and Estonia to see the real potential of Tunisia,” said the Ambassador at a media briefing held at the embassy premises in Helsinki where representative from media, travel agencies and civil society active in Finland and Estonia took part.
Hajjaji emphasized first political stability that enhanced during the recent years with the realization of a continued democratic process.
She said that the last presidential elections held peacefully and transparently on December 6 showcased the maturity of the Tunisian electoral process.
The Tunisian envoy also highlighted the economic development of the country during the recent period.
“During the last two years, Tunisia has registered, despite all the challenges, several positive developments including the GDP growth around 2.2% in 2023 and 2.6% in 2024,” said the Ambassador, quoting the African Development Bank.
She said that the investment environment in the country has been developed with the growing freedom given to foreign investors, the simplified procedures for business implementation and the different reforms such as the new law of investment and the foreign exchange code.
Hajjaji also pointed out that different events and forums such as the first edition of the Nordic Tunisian Business Forum on Green Transition held in Tunis on November 25 to foster collaboration between Tunisia and Nordic countries by focusing on renewable energy, waste management and the circular economy.
The event also promoted the Tunisian agrifood products including olive oil by organizing a tasting session of that product which is registering a great harvest this year.
The embassy also focused the Tunisian touristic destination that has been well known all over the world by its cultural and natural attractions including the unique blend of Mediterranean beaches, historical sites, and cultural experiences, contributing significantly to the economic growth.
Explaining some positive aspects, the Ambassador said her country expects an increasing number of Finnish tourists in the coming years.
