
A woman was allegedly killed and her body was dumped in an area in Mynämäki, a municipality under Southwest Finland region, police said in a press release on Wednesday.
Police recovered the body of the 28-year-old deceased on Wednesday from an area, adjacent to the place from where she went missing.
The woman was seen last time on June 18 in Mynämäki.
Responding to a missing report on Midsummer Eve (June 19) police conducted extensive searches at the locality and found the body on Wednesday afternoon.
Police suspected that the woman was killed as a result of violence and they are investigating into the case as murder.
Police, however, did not divulge the details about the incident and the identity of the deceased at the preliminary stage of the investigation.
"The police have reason to suspect that the woman died as a result of violence. The matter is being investigated as murder at this stage," said Detective Inspector Jussi Gustafsson, the lead investigator of the case.
