Two major parties of the four-party alliance government on Thursday suspended two lawmakers from parliamentary groups of the respective parties for casting votes against a government proposal in the parliament, reported national broadcaster Yle, quoting parties sources.
Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party), the largest component of the government suspended Juha Hänninen for one month while Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party), the second largest component suspended Mikko Polvinen until the end of January 2026.
The lawmakers last week cast votes against the government proposal seeking to end the provision of nighttime emergency services at a hospital in Oulaskangas, a municipality about 100 kilometres south of Oulu.
The parliamentary groups of both the parties took the decisions against the lawmakers of their respective parties.
Both the lawmakers were elected from Oulu region.
