
President Alexander Stubb on Sunday condemned the terrorist attack in Sydney, Australia and expressed profound shock at the deaths of people in the attack.
"Tonight’s terrorist attack on the Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach was shocking and devastating. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims as well as the whole Jewish community in Australia,” Stubb wrote in a post on his social media platform.
He also wrote that Finland stands with Australia in condemning antisemitism, religious hatred and terrorism in all their forms.
Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen also expressed shock at the victims of the terrorist attack.
“Deeply saddened by the horrific shooting at Bondi Beach. My thoughts are with the victims and their families, and all people affected by this heinous attack. We stand together with Australia in this tragic moment,” Valtonen wrote in a post on her X.
Authorities in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) said on Sunday night that 12 people have died following a shooting targeting Sydney's Jewish community at Bondi Beach.
