Finland opens new Consulate General in Texas

Finland on Tuesday opened one more Consulate General in United States located in Houston, Texas, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a press release.

It will provide services for people in distress in accordance with the Consular Services Act.

Other consular services, including passport services, continue to be provided at Finland’s Consulate General in New York until the permanent premises of the Consulate General in Houston are ready to be used.

Finland already has three diplomatic missions in the United States: The Embassy in Washington DC and the Consulates General in New York and Los Angeles.

The Consulate General in Houston will support Finnish businesses in various stages of market access, said the Ministry.

It will also help the businesses to network by establishing contacts with key stakeholders, including local companies, public authorities and communities.

The Consulate General will promote the visibility of Finland’s country brand and the reputation of Finnish businesses as reliable and innovative.

Finland’s Honorary Consulate in Houston will provide limited notarial services until the end of 2025.

Earlier in April 2025, the President approved an amendment to the Decree of the President on the Locations of Finland’s Diplomatic Missions.

In December 2014, Finland decided to open one more Consulate General in United States.
