
The salary of Finnish lawmakers will increase by 400 euros to 500 euros from beginning of October, said the remuneration committee of the Parliament on Thursday.
The remuneration of the Speaker and the Deputy Speakers, however, will increase by 867 euros and 676 euros respectively.
According to the new salary structure, the salary of the first-term MPs will be 7,637 euros from existing 7,137 euros while the salary of the second and third-term MPs will increase from 7,494 euros to 7,944 euros and the salary of the MPs who served for more than three terms from 7,993 euros to 8,393 euros.
The remuneration of the Speaker will increase from 14,448 euros to 15,315 euros and the Deputy Speakers from 11,266 euros to 11,942 euros each.
The committee said that the salary of the lawmakers has been hiked in accordance with the general earning levels in the country.
The remuneration of MPs was increased last time in 2023.
Earlier on Tuesday, the four-party alliance government finalised its budget proposal for 2026 where it plans one billion euros budget cuts and savings.
