Stubb censures Russian drone attack in Poland, Israeli strikes in Doha

President Alexander Stubb on Wednesday strongly condemned the incursion of Russian drones in Polish airspace and Israeli airstrike in the Qatari capital of Doha.

“The incursion of Russian drones in Polish airspace underlines the gravity of the security situation and it is unacceptable,” the President wrote in a post on his social media platform X.

Terming the incident as a direct consequence of Russia’s illegal war of aggression in Ukraine and its increased strikes by unmanned systems in the last months, he said that Russia carries responsibility for this.

“We will discuss the situation with our Polish friends and with all allies and partners. Poland has our support,” Stubb added.

He also said that instead of peace, Russia seeks escalation.

“We have to keep supporting Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia and its war economy,” he added.

Earlier in the morning, the President in another post on his X also condemned the Israeli strikes on Doha, which took place on Tuesday.

“The Israeli strikes on Qatari soil are unacceptable. They constitute a violation of international law and further threaten regional peace and stability in the Middle East. I express my solidarity with Qatar and Emir Sheikh Tamim Al Thani following the violation of Qatar’s sovereign territory,” Stubb wrote.

“We need to see more dialogue, not use of force,” the President added.

The Polish authority found seven drones and the remains of an unidentified object in sites across the Poland after several incursions of Polish airspace overnight, international media reported, quoting the interior ministry of Poland.

Meanwhile, Israel launched an unprecedented airstrike in the Qatari capital of Doha on Tuesday.
