A student was injured when another student attacked the victim with knife at Maatulli Comprehensive School at Tapulikaupunki area in Helsinki on Monday morning, police said.
The incident took place at about 9:15 a.m. following an altercation between the two middle class students as a sequel to previous hostility, police and local media said.
Both the students returned to school on Monday after disciplinary suspension, local media said, quoting school authority.
They again engaged in an altercation and at certain stage one stabbed another and left the scene.
The injured student was taken to hospital and the suspect, also a minor was arrested after the incident.
The school authority suspended all the classes for the day at about 10:30 a.m. following the stabbing.
Police said that the violence was an isolated incident and that the suspect only targeted the victim.
They, however, did not divulge details about the incident and the identities of the victim and the suspect.
Police are investigating into the incident as attempted murder.
