Swedish PM due in Helsinki on Monday

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will arrive in Helsinki on Monday on a two-day visit, said Finnish government in a recent press release.

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and the Swedish Prime Minister will hold two separate meetings in Helsinki and Espoo on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, the prime ministers will have a bilateral meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Kesäranta.

On Tuesday, the they will attend an event organised by the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre Hanaholmen, where they will inaugurate works of art donated by Sweden and Finland in honour of the centre’s 50th anniversary.

In their meeting on Monday, the prime ministers will discuss intergovernmental cooperation between Finland and Sweden, including the follow-up to the joint meeting of the Finnish and Swedish governments in Stockholm in September 2024.

They will also discuss key EU issues and support for Ukraine on the path to a just and lasting peace.

“It is a pleasure to host my Swedish colleague and friend here in Finland again. In the midst of global uncertainties, close relations and cooperation between our countries are more valuable than ever. Our governments are working closely together in a variety of sectors. The works of art now being inaugurated in Hanaholmen symbolise the close and long-standing relationship between our two countries,” said Orpo in the press release.
