Health professionals extend demo in Finland against Israeli genocide in Gaza

Health for Palestine Finland, an organisation of the health professionals in Finland has extended its demonstration to this week against Israeli genocide in Gaza after holding a series of protests last week.

In addition to Helsinki, the demonstrations will be also held at the hospitals in other cities including Turku and Kuopio this week, said the organisers in a press release.

As a part of the protests, the health professionals will hold a demonstration at the Meilahti Hospital Campus in Helsinki on Monday from 4:30p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

They will gather in front of hospitals in several cities demanding immediate action to stop the forced starvation in Gaza.

Palcif ry and Sumud Finland also extended their supports to the demonstrations.

In Gaza, Palestinians are living in the last phase of a famine, said the demonstrators referring to the UN, adding that this is the most critical phase of the disaster, which can be irreversible – even if food aid were to arrive now.

This means that every day without aid takes lives, especially children, they said.

“We healthcare professionals cannot remain silent. Hospitals have been destroyed. Doctors and patients have been killed. International aid organizations have been driven out. In this situation, silence is complicity,” said Heidi Stenman of Health for Palestine Finland.

The organisers urged health professionals, students and people from different strata to express solidarity with the Palestinian people to defend humanity.

Earlier last week, Health for Palestine Finland organized a series of demonstrations at the Meilahti Hospital Campus in Helsinki protesting against the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

The demonstrations were held from 12:00 noon to 13:00 pm daily from Tuesday to Friday.
