An elderly man allegedly killed himself after gunning down his girlfriend in Kuopio, a municipality under North Savo region on Monday, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place in the early morning at a sparsely populated area in West Kuopio.
The man born in 1950s called the emergency centre and said that he shot his girlfriend of the same age.
Responding to the alarm, police and rescue service people rushed to spot and found both the man and his girlfriend dead.
Police, however, did not divulge the detail identities of the deceased and the reason behind the murders could not be known.
Police are investigating into the incident as murder.
The case, however, will not be forwarded to the prosecutor to frame charge as the suspect is already dead, said police.
